Our daily habits are created by our routine i.e. dincharaya. Our routine can make a lot of difference in our way of living; making some minor improve can solve various health issues over a period of time. One habit that can help us solve several problems is staying hydrated by drinking water throughout the day.

Some of us have water even before our meal, between our meals and some of us like to end our meals with a glass of water. But which is the correct manner to do? How much water you should drink depends on your age, how much physical work or exercise you do, your diet, your stress levels, your herbal food supplements, and your body type.

Drinking water before a meal

If we drink water before a meal, it causes weakness. Because drinking excess water before a meal, we will be unable to eat an adequate amount of food during a meal. So that we consume less calories. But as per Ayurveda, drinking water before having meals can lead to weakness and emaciation.

Drinking water in between a meal

As per Ayurveda, drinking water sip by sip during a meal is quite beneficial. Doing so moistens the food we eat and helps to break down the food aids digerstion. It is an ideal and healthy habit to have water in between meal. It gives a balancing effect or no effect on our health.

Drinking water after a meal

Most of us drink water immediately after having our food, it directly affects the quality of the food plus digestive strength of the body. It makes us feel satiated and gives the feeling of finishing a meal. But doingthis can lead to obesity. Thus, Ayurveda does not prefer the drinking water just after a meal.

Tips:

Drink water 40 minutes before a meal and 2 hours after a meal without any issue. It is recommended to always drink warm water with meals for better metabolism and digestion. We can also add dry ginger powder, lemon slices or fennel seeds to the water we consume in between meals.
