Wrinkles may look good on a cute little shar-pei puppy, but never on a woman’s face! Problem is, while the wrinkles loosen and spread out on these puppies as they mature they only deepen for women with age.

Unfortunately, wrinkles are something that cannot be avoided because they are the inevitable effect of the growing old. As the body ages, the cells producing collagen, an important protein responsible for keeping the skin elastic and malleable reduce in number and become less vigorous. This in turn results is creases and wrinkles.

The good part is that this is not a lost battle! Thanks to advancements in the beauty industry, there are countless lotions, potions and creams available in the market to keep wrinkles at bay. You can even opt for numerous cosmetic procedures to look young and youthful! But why fight signs of aging with artificial and synthetic treatments when you can do it naturally.

Here are some simple remedies that will take year off your face!

Egg whites
Egg whites are abundant in Vitamin E and B and work wonder to rejuvenate your skin in the form of a tight facial mask. Whip up several egg whites in a small bowl and massage it onto your skin. Allow this mixture to dry on your face for 15 minutes or so and then rinse off with warm water.

Bananas
Bananas are wonderful as an anti-wrinkle treatment. Mash 1/4 banana until it is of a creamy consistency and spread all over the face. Leave it for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water, followed by a splash of cold. Gently pat dry.

Olive oil
Olive oil, enriched with numerous anti aging nutrients is a great moisturizer for all skin types. Before retiring for the day gently massage a few drops of the oil on the face and wash it off. Olive oil not only diminishes wrinkles considerably but also prevents new ones.

Lemon
Lemon is another natural remedy to erase wrinkles. Dip a ball of cotton into the lemon juice and apply on the fine facial lines. Repeat the procedure twice a day and you will notice a difference within a few weeks.

Eat fish
Cold-water fish are a great source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids for the skin. Proteins are the building blocks that create fresh cells for the skin while fatty acids like omega-3 nourish the skin and keep it looking healthy and glowing. So dig into as much salmon as you wish to ward off those ugly wrinkles.

Healthy diet and lifestyle
It goes without saying that a healthy lifestyle without smoking and drinking goes a long way towards maintaining a youthful appearance! Get at least 7-8 hours of rest and avoid stress if possible. Adhere to a diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables as they are a source of essential vitamins and minerals.

Sleep on your back, don’t squint
It may sound absurd but your sleeping position could affect the onset of wrinkles on your face. Most dermatologists recommend sleeping on your back to prevent creases. They believe side sleeping increase the wrinkles on cheeks and chin while sleeping with your face down can give you a furrowed brow.

Another recommendation is to not overwork the facial muscles by squinting when you read. This action can cause deep grooves under your skin which eventually become wrinkles. Use reading glasses or sunglasses to prevent this. Also frequent washing of face strips the skin of its natural oils drying it up and triggering wrinkles. Try and use cleansers or soaps with moisturizers in them to maintain suppleness.

Have some cocoa
Not many are aware that cocoa has anti-aging properties. Cocoa contains epicatchin and catechin which are flavanols. These protect the skin from the sun, improve circulation and make skin smoother and healthier looking. In short, delays the onset of wrinkles.
