Foods That Curb Constant Hunger Pangs – How to Reduce Hunger Pangs

Fed up of the oodles of cellulite you lug around and long to stay fit? Sometimes lunges, crunches, weights and the treadmill provide no respite to the increasing weight. It’s the hungry mouth that we need to tame; we need some foods that help reduce hunger!

High fiber and water content foods

Fruits and vegetables are high in fiber and water and are also called the high-volume foods as they help give a stuffy feeling to the stomach by adding bulk to the meals.

Barbara Rolls, PhD, and her colleagues at Pennsylvania State University who have done extensive research on the “volumetric” theory of eating more low-calorie, high-volume foods state that if we “Eat a salad or bowl of broth- based soup before the meal to reduce intake at the meal; or reduce calorie density by increasing water, air, or fiber and take out a little fat — but not so much that the dish loses it taste,” says Rolls.

These foods have lesser calories as compared to other foods and make the stomach stretch and empty at a slower pace, thus the higher level of stomach gratification.

Lean protein rich diet

Lean protein rich foods like fish, soy beans, lean meat, and eggs help keep the stomach full and help lose weight. Wayne Campbell, nutrition professor at Purdue University affirms “You are most likely to feel fuller after eating protein than other nutrients, including fiber, and one of the theories behind why higher-protein diets work well with weight loss is because it helps you not feel hungry.”

Cinnamon

Sprinkle cinnamon on your oatmeal, coffee, fruit, tea etc and watch your blood sugar levels clamber down. This will help you to control the appetite. Other spices like ginger and cloves also help curtail hunger.

Grape seed oil

Registered as a good fat, grape seed oil should be taken a couple of hours before lunchtime. These two teaspoonfuls will make you stay full longer and will also taper down the gastric tasks.

Wasabi

This spice helps in reducing inflammation and keeps the bloated feeling down. Take it in small quantities with your food to suppress the appetite.

Yummy pasta

Now this will surprise you!! The pasta is prepared out of glucomannan, a soluble fiber from the konjac root. It helps reduce the carbohydrates absorbed by the digestive tract by literally soaking up the hunger. This helps keep the constipation, hunger cravings and diabetes at bay.

Avocado

This gluten free fruit adds a lot of spunky spice to smoothies, salads or anything healthy. This nature’s butter is a diet boon.
Even pine nuts help making the stomach stay full so just pop in a few of these healthy miracles.
